CPBL: Kuo Tien-hsin eyes 30-year record, Lin Chih-sheng compares him to 'Nuclear Head'

Wei Chuan Dragons leadoff hitter Kuo Tien-hsin is having a career-best season, already smashing 7 home runs in 62 games. This performance surpasses his previous single-season high of 5 homers and places him on the cusp of a 30-year-old team record for a leadoff hitter.

The current record of 8 home runs in a single season by a Dragons leadoff hitter was set by Frank in 1996. Kuo is now just one long ball away from matching that mark, a testament to his developing power at the plate.

Former Chinese Professional Baseball League (CPBL) home run king Lin Chih-sheng expressed confidence in Kuo's ability to reach double-digit home runs this season. Lin noted that Kuo's power potential exceeds that of former player Huang Lung-yi, who also hit 10 home runs in a season. "He bats first, and his destructive power is very good on our team, including when there are runners on base, his power can create pressure on the opponent," Lin commented.

Lin, known as "Nuclear Head" and a former Taiwanese national team player, accumulated 56 career home runs. He sees Kuo Tien-hsin as a more complete player with greater explosive power, urging him to surpass the 10-homer mark.
