Crete: German man travels from Germany to assault ex-partner after finding her via shared email

A serious incident involving a suspected act of intense jealousy has occurred in Ammoudara, Crete, where authorities allege a 27-year-old German man traveled from Germany to assault his ex-girlfriend. The attack took place at a hotel and has left the 25-year-old victim in critical condition.

According to reports, police arrived at the scene to find the German woman with severe injuries and difficulty breathing. She was immediately transported to Venizelio Hospital in Heraklion. Her current 19-year-old boyfriend, also German, sustained lighter facial injuries. The alleged assailant, the woman's former partner, reportedly trained in kickboxing after their breakup in February.

Investigators believe the 27-year-old discovered his ex-girlfriend's location through a shared email account. An online food order confirmation revealed the hotel's address and room number. Upon learning where she was vacationing with her new partner, the suspect allegedly traveled to Crete, scaled a hotel fence, and entered the couple's suite.

The 19-year-old boyfriend reportedly attempted to intervene but was allegedly attacked by the suspect, who is trained in martial arts. The assailant then turned his attention to the woman, causing her serious injuries. When the new boyfriend tried to help her again, another altercation ensued. The suspect briefly escaped but was apprehended by police about an hour later as he was preparing to leave the area.

The 27-year-old German faces felony charges and has been granted time to testify before the investigating judge. He claimed he only traveled to Crete to talk, stating the breakup occurred via email. He admitted to wrongly entering the hotel premises but insisted he only wanted to approach her. To explain the woman's injuries, he alleged she slipped near the pool and they fell together, denying he struck her. The victim remains under close medical observation.
