Crew Member's Body Recovered After Falling Into Golden Horn

Tragedy struck in Istanbul's Golden Horn when a crew member fell from a moving tourist boat and lost his life. The incident occurred around 10:30 a.m. near the Atatürk Bridge as the vessel, named 'Hero,' was en route from the Golden Horn towards Eminönü.

While maneuvering under the Atatürk Bridge, the boat reportedly failed to navigate properly and collided with a bridge pillar on its starboard side. The impact caused Yasin Konya, a crew member standing at the bow of the boat, to lose his balance and fall into the waters of the Golden Horn.

Emergency services, including the Maritime Police Branch Directorate and Coast Guard teams, were immediately dispatched to the scene. A comprehensive search and rescue operation commenced, involving both surface and underwater searches. After approximately eight hours of intensive effort, the body of Yasin Konya was located.

The recovered body was subsequently transported to the Forensic Medicine Institute's morgue. Authorities are currently conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fatal accident. The incident has cast a somber mood over the usually bustling waterway.
