Croatian Students Flock to Seasonal Jobs; Housing Subsidies Planned Amid Dorm Renovation

The Croatian tourism sector continues to see a significant surge in student interest for seasonal employment, a trend that underscores the vital role young people play in the industry. As highlighted by the Student Center, the demand for student workers in tourism this summer is so high that job offers far outnumber available candidates. This presents a prime opportunity for high school graduates to gain valuable work experience and earn income even before officially starting their university studies, thanks to the Student Service facilitating their employment from June onwards.

Interest is and this year extremely large. Students have become an indispensable part of Croatian tourism. They are not just temporary help but a workforce that learns quickly and actively contributes.

Beyond employment opportunities, the government is also addressing student living conditions. With the planned renovation of the 'Sava' dormitory, estimated at around 20 million euros, temporary housing solutions are being arranged. To mitigate the impact of reduced dormitory capacity, students will receive additional subsidies for private accommodation. This dual focus on employment and welfare demonstrates a commitment to supporting students during the peak tourist season and beyond, ensuring they can contribute to and benefit from Croatia's economic activities.

Absolutely! Graduates do not have to wait for autumn and the official start of university to start working. All graduates who have applied for the state matura can join the Student Service as early as June, immediately after finishing secondary education.
