Czech Football Association President Backs FIFA's World Cup Commercial Rights Plan

David Trunda, President of the Football Association of the Czech Republic, has voiced support for FIFA President Gianni Infantino's plan to establish the FIFA Forward Enterprise (FFE). This new business entity aims to develop commercial rights for the World Cup, a proposal that has generated significant discussion among FIFA's member associations.

Specifically, he believes this additional funding could strengthen youth football programs and accelerate the development of sports infrastructure within the Czech Republic.

While acknowledging the need for further details on the proposal, Trunda expressed optimism about FIFA's intentions. He added, "Of course, we still need more details, but personally, I see this FIFA intention as potentially having a positive impact."

Trunda's support stands in contrast to the official position of UEFA, the European football confederation, which has stated that all 55 of its member associations reject the FIFA initiative. However, Trunda emphasized that his personal view is based on positive experiences with FIFA projects over the past year, which he believes have significantly benefited European football's development. The Czech Football Association is scheduled to formally discuss the FIFA proposal in an executive committee meeting on August 11.
