Danni Rais: 'I was not forced into politics'

Danni Rais, the Perikatan Nasional candidate for the Klawang state seat, has clarified that his foray into politics is driven by his own volition to serve the people, rather than any compulsion from his father, Tan Sri Rais Yatim.

Rais, representing Parti Wawasan Negara (Wawasan), expressed gratitude for having a father who is a prominent political figure and a mentor. However, he emphasized that his decision to actively engage in politics was entirely his own. "We cannot choose our parents. I am grateful to have a father who is considered a political figure and he has helped me a lot. There is no question of being overshadowed by him. Now he moves on his own and I also move on my own," he stated.

"However, I was not forced to get involved in politics. Since childhood, I followed him, and I feel the time has come for me to serve the people myself," Rais told Utusan Malaysia at the Pasar Tani Kuala Klawang.

Reflecting on his second candidacy in Klawang, Rais noted that his previous experience has streamlined his campaign efforts with the party machinery. He sees his second nomination as proof of his unwavering dedication to the constituency, having remained active and engaged with residents for the past three years since his defeat in the last election. "That's what I want to prove. We are not the type to give up easily. God willing, we will succeed this time," he said.

Rais also highlighted his focus on understanding the concerns of the Malay and Chinese communities in Klawang and finding solutions for the area's development issues. He believes that significant changes require time and community consultation. "Kuala Klawang has great potential for development, especially in tourism, and I am confident that this area can be developed better and become a more recognized destination," he added.
