Manivanan aims to serve mother's hometown in Jeram Padang

G. Manivanan, a candidate for Pakatan Harapan in the Jeram Padang state seat, is motivated by a personal desire to serve his mother's hometown. Jeram Padang holds deep sentimental value for Manivanan, as his mother was born and raised in the area before marrying.

Although born in Kajang, Selangor, Manivanan maintained a connection to Jeram Padang, visiting frequently since childhood. "It's not just about contesting in an election, but returning to my own hometown," he said, emphasizing his personal request to the party leadership to contest in this area.

Manivanan sees significant potential in Jeram Padang, particularly in agriculture, livestock, and youth development. He believes that a people's representative should act as a bridge, connecting the community with government policies and assistance. "Many young people are diligent and have potential, but they lack good guidance. A representative needs to be a bridge so they can connect their efforts with government programs," he explained.

With over 20 years of political experience and a background as a lawyer, Manivanan feels well-equipped to connect with voters. He noted that despite the rural nature of the constituency, understanding local issues is key. Residents in areas like Sungai Raya still face challenges such as water supply disruptions lasting up to five days, low water pressure, and frequent outages.

Manivanan also highlighted the strategic location of Jeram Padang, bordering Melaka, Johor, and Pahang, suggesting its potential as a transportation hub with expanded rail networks. He believes infrastructure development can attract investment, create quality jobs, and reduce youth migration. "Jeram Padang can change. What is needed is someone truly determined to make it happen," he stated.
