DAP must win 11 seats to help PH form state government

The Democratic Action Party (DAP) is targeting a clean sweep of all 11 State Legislative Assembly seats it is contesting in the upcoming Negeri Sembilan state election. Secretary-General Anthony Loke Siew Fook emphasized that securing victories in all these seats is vital for Pakatan Harapan (PH) to establish a state government with at least a simple majority.

Loke acknowledged that the party faces stiff competition, particularly in seats with direct one-on-one contests, including Chennah, where he is personally running. "We enter the fray, of course, wanting to win. We are enthusiastic and confident about contributing 11 seats to PH," he stated. "So, for every seat, we will campaign and fight earnestly. The most challenging seat is the Chennah state seat, where I myself am leading the challenge."

He further highlighted the strategic alliance between Barisan Nasional (BN) and Perikatan Nasional (PN) as a significant challenge for PH in Negeri Sembilan. Loke believes this coalition aims to prevent vote splitting among their supporters and facilitate cross-coalition vote transfers to defeat PH. "This is a challenge that PH must face in Negeri Sembilan. However, we will still provide stiff competition in every seat," he added.

Despite these challenges, Loke expressed confidence in PH's chances of winning a majority of seats in Negeri Sembilan, urging a unified team effort in campaigning. He also questioned the strategy of the Malaysian Chinese Association (MCA) in not fielding candidates in three state seats, Lobak, Mambau, and Lukut. Loke noted that these seats have a majority Chinese electorate and are traditional MCA strongholds, suggesting the party should have contested them.
