Davu hails bright future for Fiji netball

Vilimaina Davu, a former Fiji Pearls and New Zealand representative, is actively contributing to the growth of netball in Fiji by coaching the Auckland Fijians team at the Netball Fiji Invitational Tournament. Davu believes that former players have a crucial role in nurturing emerging talent and advancing the sport.

She was speaking after her team secured a hard-fought victory, which she attributed to strong teamwork and the effective leadership of captain Serena Daunakamakama.

It was a great game out there for our girls. For most of them, it’s the first time playing at this level. Our captain led from the get-go, and that was Serena Daunakamakama.

Davu praised her players for adhering to their roles and supporting each other during the match. "All we ask of them is to do their job, and the result will take care of itself. It’s teamwork. Great effort from the players on court and also the players on the sidelines," she commented.

Reflecting on the tournament, Davu expressed confidence in the future of netball in Fiji, citing the promising emerging talent on display.
