Defence Minister Musa vows to sue over resignation rumours after meeting Tinubu

Nigeria's Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa, has vehemently denied rumors of his resignation, vowing to pursue legal action against those responsible for spreading the falsehoods. Musa expressed shock at the reports, stating he had no knowledge of their origin but was determined to identify and prosecute the individuals involved.

I am not going anywhere. I have never discussed this. I don’t even know who the person is that brought that information. But whoever it is, we will take legal action against them.

Emerging from a private meeting with President Bola Tinubu at Aso Rock Villa, Musa characterized the rumors as a deliberate attempt to undermine public confidence in the current administration's security achievements. He suggested that people uncomfortable with the improving security situation are behind the misinformation campaign.

Whoever it is, we will take legal action against them. I am sure we will get them. He will come and explain who gave him such information.

Musa described his meeting with the President as a routine security briefing, during which Tinubu expressed satisfaction with the military's performance. "We are going to continue doing well," Musa affirmed, emphasizing that the administration is focused on further enhancing security across the nation.

We are surprised. I was shocked when I saw that. I don’t know where that came from. But you always expect that there will be people who will not be happy when things are going well. Security is improving, things are getting better, and for them, that is a sad point. They always want to make it look as if it is not so.

The Defence Minister also appealed for continued civilian cooperation with security forces, highlighting its crucial role in combating terrorism and banditry. He thanked Nigerians for their "massive" support, stating that a "whole-of-society approach" is essential to defeating threats and that improvements will continue.
