Democrats nominate 11 candidates for mayor

The Democratic Party has announced its slate of 11 candidates who will compete for mayoral positions in the upcoming 2027 elections. These nominations, confirmed at the party's convention on Saturday, cover a range of cities and districts throughout Lithuania.

Key nominations include Rasa Bekėžienė for Klaipėda city mayor and Tautvydas Džiautas for Alytus city mayor. In Šiauliai, Domo Griškevičius will run for city mayor, while Sandra Jakė is nominated for Šiauliai district mayor. Renaldas Maziukas will represent the party in Druskininkai, and Petras Nevulis is slated to run for Panevėžys district mayor. All these candidates currently lead their respective regional party branches.

Further nominations include Julius Strampickas for Prienai district mayor, Dominykas Tutkus for Anykščiai district mayor, and Darius Ulickas for Raseiniai district mayor. Darius Varnas will be the candidate for Ukmergė district mayor, and Rasa Vitkauskienė will run for Alytus district mayor. These individuals also hold leadership positions within their regional party structures.

The municipal council and mayoral elections are scheduled for the spring of 2027. The official political campaigning period for all participating candidates is set to commence in September 2026, marking the beginning of their efforts to gain public support.
