Lithuanian Poll: Distrust in Former PM Skvernelis Quadruples, Nausėda Most Trusted

Distrust in former Lithuanian Prime Minister S. Skvernelis has surged dramatically, with the number of respondents expressing the most distrust increasing nearly fourfold in six months. A survey conducted from June 19-30 revealed that 15% of participants now distrust Skvernelis the most, a significant jump from 4.1% in December.

Despite this sharp rise in distrust for Skvernelis, Seimas member R. Žemaitaitis remains the public figure most frequently named as untrustworthy, with 16% of respondents indicating the most distrust. However, this figure represents a slight decrease from 18.5% in the previous survey.

Former Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė also saw a decrease in distrust, with 9.8% expressing the most distrust in June, down from 16.6% in December. Other public figures appearing in the top 10 most distrusted include President Gitanas Nausėda (9.6%), Vytautas Landsbergis (7.7%), Laurynas Kasčiūnas (6.8%), Inga Ruginienė (6.4%), Gabrielius Landsbergis (4.8%), Andrius Tapinas (3.3%), and Ignas Vėgėlė (3.2%).

Conversely, President Gitanas Nausėda emerged as the most trusted public figure in the June survey, with 12.4% of respondents placing the most trust in him, an increase from 10.4% three months prior. Journalist Andrius Tapinas followed, with 7.6% trusting him the most, up from 6.9%. Former Prime Minister I. Šimonytė garnered 6.1% trust, and both former President Dalia Grybauskaitė and Seimas member Valius Ąžuolas received 5.7% trust.
