Details Released on Horrific Accident on Cres: Pregnant Woman Airlifted, Three Women Seriously Injured

The incident, which took place around 6:30 PM, involved a 45-year-old female driver whose vehicle, registered in Rijeka, reportedly failed to adjust her speed to the road conditions. She allegedly veered into the opposite lane, first striking a car with Slovenian license plates, which was then pushed into a stone wall. The same driver then collided with a second vehicle, also registered in Rijeka, carrying a 27-year-old Croatian driver and a 23-year-old passenger.

The immediate aftermath saw all three injured Croatian women transported to the Clinical Hospital Center (KBC) Rijeka, where they were diagnosed with severe physical injuries. Emergency services, including a medical helicopter, were deployed to the scene. Notably, a pregnant woman was trapped in one of the vehicles and required extrication by cutting away the car's metal. She was subsequently airlifted to KBC Rijeka for specialized care. The accident caused significant traffic disruptions, with the road closed in both directions for a period before traffic was managed alternately and eventually normalized late in the evening.
