Devastating Russian Attacks on Zaporizhzhia and Kramatorsk Leave at Least 17 Dead

The southern Ukrainian city of Zaporizhzhia endured a devastating Russian assault on Tuesday, with at least 12 civilians killed and 20 wounded by guided bombs. The attack, which struck a car repair shop around 4 PM, caused widespread destruction, impacting nearby businesses and residential buildings. Governor Ivan Fedorov reported that rescue teams are still searching for survivors amidst the rubble, while Russian forces reportedly launched attack drones in the same area during ongoing rescue operations.

Simultaneously, the city of Kramatorsk, located in the eastern Donetsk region, also came under fire. At least five people were killed and 12 injured in an aerial bombing that hit the city center around 5 PM. The attack damaged residential buildings and vehicles, leaving parts of the city without electricity. Emergency services are actively engaged in search and rescue efforts in Kramatorsk as well.

These brutal attacks underscore the relentless nature of the conflict in Ukraine. Both Zaporizhzhia and Kramatorsk are situated close to the front lines, with parts of the Donetsk region under Russian occupation since 2014 and significant portions of Zaporizhzhia occupied since the full-scale invasion in 2022. The civilian toll from these strikes is a grim reminder of the ongoing human cost of the war, with local authorities in Zaporizhzhia declaring a day of mourning to honor the victims.
