Diagonal pedestrian crossing introduced at major intersection in Bishkek

Bishkek has introduced a new traffic feature aimed at improving pedestrian movement and optimizing flow at a key intersection. Overnight, municipal services installed a diagonal pedestrian crossing at the junction of Moskovskaya Street and Zhusup Abdrakhmanov Street. This new design allows pedestrians to cross the street not only along the sides but also directly across the intersection when the traffic lights permit.

City officials explained that the primary goal of this diagonal crossing is to reduce walking distances for pedestrians. By enabling direct, diagonal paths, the convenience for those on foot is expected to increase. Furthermore, the arrangement is intended to help streamline traffic flow through one of the capital city's busiest intersections.

The new traffic configuration is now in effect.
