Dog doused with hot liquid in Veracruz; authorities provide treatment

Authorities in Veracruz, Mexico, are providing care for a dog named "Hiena" that sustained severe burns after being assaulted with hot liquid. The incident has drawn the attention of the Specialized Prosecutor's Office for Environmental Crimes and Against Animals.

An anonymous citizen report alerted local officials to the abuse, which occurred in the Lomas del Vergel neighborhood. The report indicated that the dog had been doused with a hot substance, causing significant burns to its back.

A neighbor initially took in the dog after learning about the case on social media. Subsequently, personnel from the Veracruz City Council's Directorate of Health and Animal Protection located "Hiena" and transported her to Animal Health Center No. 2. There, a veterinarian examined the dog and confirmed the severity of the burns.

"Hiena" is currently undergoing treatment for her injuries. The Specialized Prosecutor's Office for Environmental Crimes and Against Animals of the State Attorney General's Office is also involved in the case, indicating a formal investigation into the animal cruelty.
