Don't create party within a party, two captains on one ship - Nurul Izzah

Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) cannot be a strong organization if the culture of 'party within a party' or 'two captains steering one ship' persists, according to Deputy President Nurul Izzah Anwar. She stated that hidden power structures undermine the party and distract from its core mission of serving the people.

"I want to see a future for PKR that is free from the influence of certain groups to ensure the party remains a strong and effective organization."

Nurul Izzah stressed that party energy should not be wasted on internal disputes. Every moment spent in conflict is time that could be used to win the hearts of the people. "So, I think our focus, God willing, will be to commit to the agenda of people-centered economics, competing in doing good through winning in real elections, whether general or state-level," she added.

She reminded members that political victory brings not only power but also greater trust and responsibility. The real challenge for any party is to ensure that acquired power is used for change, not to protect the interests of specific groups. "Leadership is not about possessing power. Leadership is about upholding trust. The difference may seem small, but from this small difference, very different political currents are born. One defends seats, the other defends values," she stated.

Nurul Izzah urged Wanita and Angkatan Muda Keadilan (AMK) members to rebuild a culture of mutual recognition, trust, and unity within the party. She warned that divisions within the party's wings are unsustainable if PKR aims to win public support. "I may be naive, perhaps simplistic, perhaps too hopeful. But we must all embrace the spirit of good faith, armed with the mission of true unity of the ummah. Not for political reasons, but for the sake of justice that we must bring into this party before, God willing, we bring it to the people," she concluded.
