Don't Put Away the Umbrella! Very Heavy Rains Expected Saturday in Mexico City; Temperatures Could Reach 26 Degrees

Residents of Mexico City and the surrounding State of Mexico should prepare for significant rainfall this Saturday, as the National Meteorological Service (SMN) forecasts strong downpours accompanied by electrical storms and the potential for hail.

The morning is expected to be partly cloudy with cool to mild temperatures and some mist, becoming warmer with partly cloudy to cloudy skies in the afternoon. Specific forecasts indicate potential rainfall between 25 and 50 millimeters in Mexico City over a 24-hour period. The western part of the State of Mexico could see even heavier precipitation, ranging from 50 to 75 millimeters.

The SMN has warned that these rains could lead to flash floods, inundations, and landslides, particularly in susceptible areas. The forecast for Mexico City includes a maximum temperature of 24 to 26 degrees Celsius, with overnight lows between 13 and 15 degrees. Winds are expected from the east at 10 to 20 kilometers per hour, with gusts potentially reaching 40 to 50 kilometers per hour.

Authorities are urging the public to exercise caution while driving and to avoid areas prone to flooding. Citizens are advised to stay informed about official weather advisories.
