Heavy Rains Disrupt Metrobús Line 5 Service in Mexico City

Heavy rainfall in Mexico City on Friday has significantly impacted the service of Metrobús Line 5, which connects Preparatoria 1 to Río de los Remedios. Due to severe traffic congestion caused by the downpour, the Metrobús is now operating on two distinct circuits.

The operational segments are from Preparatoria 1 to Metro Coyuya, and from Río de los Remedios to Mercado Morelos. The section between Archivo General and Hospital General Troncoso remains suspended. Metrobús CDMX announced these service modifications via social media, advising passengers to take note.

In response to the persistent heavy rains and potential for hail, the Secretariat of Integral Risk Management and Civil Protection (SGIRPC) has issued several alerts across the city. A Red Alert has been activated for Magdalena Contreras due to the ongoing heavy rainfall and possibility of hail.

Orange Alerts are in effect for Álvaro Obregón, Coyoacán, Cuajimalpa, and Tlalpan, forecasting rainfall between 30 and 49 millimeters, along with hail. Yellow Alerts cover Azcapotzalco, Benito Juárez, Cuauhtémoc, Gustavo A. Madero, Iztacalco, Iztapalapa, Miguel Hidalgo, Milpa Alta, Tláhuac, Venustiano Carranza, and Xochimilco, with expected rainfall between 15 and 29 millimeters and possible hail.
