Donyell Malen Scores Twice as Roma Thrash Lecce 4-0 in Serie A

Donyell Malen scored twice as Roma made a fast start and swept aside Lecce 4-0 away from home. The Dutch forward opened the scoring in the fourth minute after Lecce defender Kialonda Gaspar failed to clear the ball cleanly.

Malen doubled Roma’s lead in the 23rd minute, finishing a move involving Matias Soule and Wesley Franca with a close-range shot that goalkeeper Wladimiro Falcone could not stop. Roma needed only two more minutes to add a third.

Soule scored after Falcone parried his first effort. The Roma forward reacted quickest to the rebound, giving the visitors a three-goal advantage before halftime.

Roma continued to attack after the break. Rodrigo Mora, introduced five minutes earlier, completed the scoring in the 65th minute by turning in a short pass from Gianluca Mancini. The result lifted Roma to six points from two matches and first place provisionally, ahead of Inter Milan, AC Milan, Juventus and Lazio on goal difference. Lecce remained 13th with three points.
