DPP 'Taiwan Good Life' campaign kicks off in Kaohsiung; Mayor Chen Chi-mai points to 'biggest variable' in mayoral race

The Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has kicked off its "Taiwan Good Life" campaign, a series of grassroots outreach events designed to connect with voters and highlight the administration's achievements. The campaign's first stop in Kaohsiung featured prominent figures including Vice Premier Cheng Wen-tsan, Secretary-General Chang Han-yu, and Financial Supervisory Commission Minister Peng Chin-lung, who engaged with over a thousand local community leaders and industry representatives.

Chen highlighted that TSMC's investment, potentially reaching trillions of New Taiwan dollars for multiple fabs, signifies a major shift from the city's past image of being "old and poor." He also emphasized the booming "concert economy," noting that major international acts like GD and BTS are scheduled to perform, filling the city's venues and drawing young people from across Taiwan.

The mayor stressed that such developments, including the 5G AIoT innovation park in the Asia Bay Area, were made possible by central government support and strategic planning, enabling Kaohsiung to overcome past development challenges and attract global attention.
