Drone discovered in Tulcea, Romania, safely detonated by defense specialists

A drone discovered in Plauru, Tulcea County, was safely neutralized by a specialized team from the Romanian National Defense Ministry on August 15. The operation ensured public safety after the object was found the previous day.

The ministry confirmed the controlled detonation proceeded without incident after the area was secured. Specialists assessed and neutralized the drone to mitigate any potential risks.

A specialized team from the National Defense Ministry is heading to the scene with an IAR-330 Puma SOCAT helicopter of the Romanian Air Force to assess the debris and neutralize it, if the situation requires.

This incident marked the second drone discovery in Tulcea County on August 14. Earlier that day, debris from another aircraft was identified near Greci in the Măcin Mountains. Authorities initially provided limited information regarding the origin of the Plauru drone or the circumstances of its arrival.

Meanwhile, authorities had also evacuated a section of the beach in the resort town of Saturn on Friday due to the discovery of drone fragments near tourists. Earlier on Friday morning, an alert was also raised in Costinești after a suspicious object was found on the beach.
