Romania: No Increased Risk to Public Despite Black Sea Clashes, Defense Ministry Says

Despite heightened military activity in the Black Sea region and near its borders, Romania's Ministry of National Defense (MApN) has assured the public that there are currently no signs pointing to an increased risk level for the population. The ministry acknowledged that the intensification of confrontations is generating collateral effects, leading to more frequent monitoring and surveillance operations by its structures.

MApN confirmed that its air police forces, radar surveillance systems, and specialized units are on constant standby, prepared to respond to any shifts in the security landscape. Regarding drone fragments and other elements discovered on Romanian territory in recent days, the ministry stated that specialized teams are analyzing them according to established procedures. Currently, these findings do not indicate a heightened risk for the Romanian populace.

The ministry reiterated its commitment to continuously monitoring the situation near its borders and adapting protective and intervention measures accordingly. This statement follows an earlier RO-Alert message sent to residents in Tulcea County on August 14, warning of potential falling objects from the airspace. Subsequently, drone debris was identified and neutralized in an area near Greci, within the Măcin Mountains. Another drone was reported and secured in the Plauru area, also in Tulcea County, marking the second such discovery in the region that day.
