Drone enters Bulgarian airspace and explodes near Romania border

A drone entered Bulgarian airspace and exploded near the border with Romania, prompting an investigation by authorities. Prime Minister Rumen Radev announced the incident, stating the drone detonated approximately 100 meters from the Romanian border.

The explosion occurred in the vicinity of the Kardam border crossing with Romania, in the northeastern part of the country. Significantly, the blast also happened near the "Trans-Balkan" gas pipeline, a critical infrastructure connecting Turkey with Ukraine. Radev confirmed the proximity of the explosion to a compressor station of the gas pipeline.
