Drought: Fire alarm in the southwest: Several dry fields burn

Fire departments across Baden-Württemberg, Germany, were kept busy responding to several fires fueled by dry conditions. In Stutensee, a fire broke out on a harvested grain field, with flames reaching several meters high. The fire department managed to prevent the blaze from spreading, and initial assessments indicated no significant damage due to the field already being harvested.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the Stutensee fire, as a witness reportedly saw someone leaving the scene shortly before the fire was noticed by a passing ambulance. However, there is currently no concrete suspicion of arson.

Elsewhere in the region, a forest area of approximately 200 square meters caught fire in Bad Teinach-Zavelstein. Around 60 firefighters battled the blaze, which sent flames 10 to 15 meters high, working to contain it within the wooded area. Challenges included securing a water supply, leading to the use of shuttle services for fire trucks. A drone equipped with a thermal imaging camera assisted in locating hot spots.

Additionally, firefighters in Balingen responded to two separate incidents of meadow fires in the same location within a few hours. The first fire affected an area of about 100 square meters, and a subsequent report of smoke from the same spot prompted a second response. The cause of these fires remains unclear.
