Drunk Driver Stopped on Hopp Scooter

Police in Iceland apprehended a driver operating a "Hopp" electric scooter while intoxicated. The incident occurred in the jurisdiction of police station 1 and was one of several drunk driving offenses recorded during a single night. The police log detailed a busy period from 5 p.m. yesterday to 5 a.m. this morning, during which numerous drivers were stopped for suspected impairment.

In the jurisdiction of police station 2, which covers Hafnarfjörður and Garðabær, three additional drivers were stopped on suspicion of driving under the influence of narcotics. One of these individuals was also found to be driving with a suspended license and had incorrect license plates on their vehicle. Meanwhile, police officers at station 4, responsible for Kópavogur and Breiðholt, stopped four drivers for speeding. One of these drivers was also found to be intoxicated.

Further incidents included another driver stopped on suspicion of drug impairment and a separate case involving a driver operating a vehicle with studded winter tires. Police issued a reminder that despite a less-than-ideal summer in the capital region, the period for using studded tires does not begin until November 1st.
