Drunk man mistakes survival game shop for a shelter and passes out in its bathroom

A heavily intoxicated 24-year-old man in Taipei apparently mistook a survival game shop for a place where he could “survive” and collapsed in its bathroom.

The man, identified by his surname Lin, had been drinking with friends in Ximending before staggering along Wuchang Street Section 2 at about 4 p.m. He entered the shop after seeing its sign and then fell asleep face down in the bathroom.

Employees and customers later found him lying there, unable to wake him and noticing a strong smell of alcohol. They called the Ximending police station for assistance.

Officers said Lin had almost no ability to move, but they found no contraband or other evidence of an offense. They took him to the station for protective custody and allowed him to leave safely after he regained sobriety that evening.
