Earthquake in Ioannina: No Damage Reported from 4.5 Magnitude Tremor, Authorities on Alert

A seismic tremor measuring 4.5 on the Richter scale jolted the region north of Ioannina, Greece, at 11:10 PM. The earthquake's epicenter was located 9 kilometers north of the city and southwest of Aspangeloi Zagori, with a shallow focal depth of 5 kilometers.

Due to its shallow depth, the earthquake was strongly felt across the Ioannina basin. Civil Protection forces in the wider area were immediately mobilized in response to the tremor.

As of now, no damage to buildings has been reported. The Fire Service Operations Center has not received any calls for individuals trapped in collapsed structures. Fire and police patrols are currently conducting sweeps in the affected seismic zone.

By order of the Fire Service Chief, Lieutenant General Theodoros Vaggias, Fire Services in the Epirus Region and the 5th Special Operational Unit have been placed on heightened alert. Authorities remain vigilant as they monitor the situation following the seismic event.
