Ecatepec government rehabilitates Cutzamala pipeline using German technology to fix leaks

The Ecatepec government is undertaking a significant rehabilitation of the Cutzamala water system's main pipeline, a crucial artery supplying water to the Fifth Zone. Mayor Azucena Cisneros Coss described the effort as "a feat," emphasizing its importance for improving water supply and preventing leaks.

The project involves reinforcing nearly a kilometer of the 48-to-54-inch diameter pipe using a German-made "liner" technology. This method allows for "in-situ" curing, meaning repairs are made without excavation, minimizing disruption. The pipeline has suffered from numerous leaks, some attributed to illegal taps and connection damage.
