Edo Assembly impeaches suspended speaker eight days after resignation

The Edo State House of Assembly has formally impeached Blessing Agbebaku, the suspended Speaker, eight days after he reportedly resigned. The lawmakers' decision to convert his resignation to impeachment stems from the claim that Agbebaku's resignation notice was not officially presented and documented following his suspension.

Yekini Idaiye, the lawmaker representing Akoko-Edo I and now the new Speaker, stated that 17 members signed the impeachment notice. He explained that the indefinite suspension was converted to impeachment because the resignation was not formally submitted.
