Egypt, Chad expand cooperation in civil aviation

Egypt and Chad are set to significantly boost their cooperation in civil aviation, aiming to enhance air connectivity and streamline transport between the two nations. The Egyptian-Chadian Business Forum served as a platform for specialized talks focused on developing air routes and broadening partnership in this sector.

Discussions, held during the fourth session of the Egyptian-Chadian Joint Committee in N’Djamena, Chad, involved ministers, officials, and business representatives. The Egyptian delegation, including officials from the Civil Aviation Authority, met with Chad's Minister of Transport, Civil Aviation and National Meteorology, Fatime Goukouni Weddeye. Key topics included facilitating operating procedures, overcoming challenges faced by airlines, and exploring opportunities to increase air traffic.

As a result of these talks, both sides agreed to a substantial increase in capacity. Passenger transport capacity will be doubled, rising by 100 percent, while air cargo capacity will see a 125 percent increase. These measures are designed to support the expected growth in travel and trade between Egypt and Chad.

Furthermore, the two countries committed to maintaining technical and operational coordination, exchanging expertise, and providing technical support in civil aviation. A memorandum of understanding was signed to establish frameworks for cooperation and expertise-sharing, aiming to enhance operational efficiency and support the development of the air transport system. This expanded cooperation highlights the role of civil aviation in promoting regional integration, facilitating the movement of people and goods, and fostering trade and investment.
