Egyptian fencing team defeats Israel to claim World Championship team bronze

Egypt's national sabre fencing team has secured a bronze medal at the World Fencing Championships held in Hong Kong. The team achieved this historic feat by defeating Israel with a narrow score of 39–38 in the bronze medal match.

The Pharaohs' path to the medal included a series of challenging bouts. They began their campaign in the Round of 32 with a decisive 44–33 victory over Portugal. This was followed by a closely contested Round of 16 match against Spain, which Egypt won 36–35. The team then advanced to the semifinals after a strong performance against Russia, winning 45–35.

Despite a setback in the semifinal round where they lost 41–32 to Kazakhstan, the Egyptian team regrouped to face Israel in the battle for third place. The intense match concluded with Egypt clinching the bronze medal by a single point, 39–38.

The Egyptian delegation at the championships includes key figures from the Egyptian Fencing Federation, such as President Captain Tarek al-Hossainy and Director of National Fencing Teams Ayman Ghoneim. Medical staff and other officials are also present, with Vice President Ahmed Samir attending FIE meetings on the sidelines.
