Elon Musk Predicts Money's Obsolescence Due to AI, Warns of UK Civil War

Elon Musk foresees a radical transformation of society driven by artificial intelligence, predicting that AI will become smarter than humans within five years and fundamentally alter the global economy within a decade. He believes AI's rapid advancement will lead to a future where robots perform most labor, rendering money largely irrelevant.

"There will be nothing that AI cannot do better than humans," Musk stated, suggesting that the only unique human attribute might be existence itself. He envisions a "quasi-infinite economy" powered by advanced robots and AI, capable of producing more goods and services than humans can consume. In this scenario, Musk posits that money's traditional role will diminish significantly, perhaps by 2036, as basic needs like food, housing, and entertainment become universally accessible.

Musk proposed that governments could manage this transition by issuing universal basic income, suggesting that increased production driven by AI would prevent runaway inflation. He argued that a massive increase in the supply of goods and services, potentially by hundreds or thousands of percent, could be balanced by a slower increase in the money supply, possibly leading to deflation.

Separately, Musk reiterated his controversial view that the United Kingdom is on a path toward civil war. He cited the potential for conflict arising from a large, rapidly growing population whose beliefs clash with Western values. "If you have a large and rapidly growing group of people whose beliefs are in conflict with the values of the West, at some point there will be a reckoning," he explained, defining civil war as a struggle where opposing groups attempt to impose their views.
