Emei Lake Tung Blossom Hike a Delight; State Banquet Chef Chiu Po-lang Honored as 'Light of Emei'

The Emei Township Office, in collaboration with local organizations, successfully hosted the 'Emei Time Fun, Happy Tung Walk' event, drawing a significant crowd to the scenic Emei Lake. Despite a rainy start, the weekend afternoon turned beautiful, with the lakeside path bustling with families and friends eager to enjoy the tung blossoms and participate in the festivities.

The event was designed to be engaging for all ages, featuring a variety of activities including circus acts, interactive games, DIY crafts, a mobile library, and a tea ceremony showcasing the renowned Dong-shiang Beauty Tea. The township office also organized a special market with local specialties. The overwhelming response was evident as all 500 game cards were distributed within half an hour, highlighting the community's enthusiasm.

A special moment of the day was the public commendation of Chef Chiu Po-lang, a distinguished son of Emei. Acknowledged as a renowned 'state banquet chef' with a specialty in Hakka cuisine, Chiu was presented with plaques reading 'Light of Emei' and 'God of Cookery.' His journey, marked by hardship and dedication, and his continued connection to his hometown despite his demanding career, were celebrated by Acting Township Mayor Tien Chao-jung and the township representatives. This recognition underscores the pride Emei takes in its local talents and their contributions, both domestically and internationally.
