Captain Harry Kane acknowledged the team's preparation focus over the result. "We are here more for preparation than the result. I am in the best phase of my career. The energy is there, the quality will follow. The stronger the opponent, the stronger we will be," Kane said after the game.

Ivan Toney had a goal disallowed for offside shortly after coming on as a substitute for Kane. England, considered one of the tournament favorites, will begin their World Cup campaign against Croatia on June 17, followed by matches against Ghana and Panama in Group L. New Zealand is in Group G with Iran, Belgium, and Egypt.
