I have seen firsthand the devastating consequences of unchecked environmental damage. The revocation of permits for 28 companies in Sumatra serves as a stark reminder of the penalties for violating environmental regulations. It is heartbreaking to know that around 1,700 workers lost their jobs due to these closures. This is not the outcome we desire. We aim for progress, for economic development that uplifts our communities, but not at the expense of our natural heritage.
