Erdogan vows to thwart plots against Turkish, Kurdish, Arab ties; warns of foreign campaigns

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has pledged to counter efforts aimed at fracturing the unity between Turks, Kurds, and Arabs within Türkiye and the region. This commitment is tied to a broader initiative designed to disarm the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), which Türkiye refers to as the "Terror-Free Türkiye" process.

Erdogan stated that the success of this process would undermine those who profit from terrorism and seek to destabilize the country. Speaking at an event commemorating a historic Seljuk victory, he described the initiative as ushering in a new era of humanity, brotherhood, peace, and stability. He issued a veiled warning to unspecified actors, including implicitly Israel, asserting that Türkiye would not be deterred from its path or its goal of fostering solidarity among its diverse populations.

The Turkish presidency's Center for Countering Disinformation echoed these concerns, highlighting what it described as a deliberate, foreign-backed psychological campaign targeting Türkiye's social cohesion. The center urged citizens to remain vigilant against malicious content and to trust only official communications. Meanwhile, a council overseeing the PKK's disarmament has identified four committees to manage the process, deeming it a critical stage for eradicating terrorism and fostering brotherhood. Recent legislation supporting national solidarity and social integration is seen as a cornerstone of this vision.
