The cost of liquefied natural gas (LNG), which is transported by ship rather than pipelines, has doubled in the current period compared to the same time last year, according to data from the analysis firm Argus Media, as reported by the British financial newspaper Financial Times.

This surge in prices occurs as European nations strive to secure sufficient gas supplies for the colder months. The situation is further complicated by reports indicating an increase in Russian gas imports to the European Union in 2026, despite ongoing geopolitical tensions and efforts to diversify energy sources.

Reports suggest that approximately 300,000 Danish households could face substantial increases in their energy bills if temperatures drop significantly.
