European Union Sends Fourth Humanitarian Aid Shipment to Venezuela for Earthquake Victims

The European Union has delivered a significant new aid package to Venezuela, marking the fourth flight of its Humanitarian Air Bridge. This latest shipment, consisting of 48 tons of emergency supplies, aims to assist populations affected by the earthquakes that struck the country on June 24.

The vital supplies, sourced from the Spanish Red Cross, arrived in the Venezuelan capital and were coordinated by the European Commission's Directorate-General for Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (ECHO). The EU reiterated its ongoing commitment to the Venezuelan people and its support for organizations working to distribute aid in the most vulnerable areas.

This latest delivery follows a similar operation on July 18, which also transported medical items and shelter materials. The EU's humanitarian efforts in Venezuela are part of a broader initiative to support crisis management and provide relief to those impacted by natural disasters.

According to Venezuelan authorities, the seismic events have resulted in a tragic toll, with over 5,500 fatalities, more than 16,700 injuries, and nearly 18,000 people displaced. The government reports that over 128,000 families have received direct assistance, and more than 24,000 individuals are currently housed in temporary shelters.
