Eurostat: Lithuania's April unemployment rate at 7.1%, above EU average

Lithuania's unemployment rate in April reached 7.1%, surpassing the European Union's average of 6.0% and the Eurozone's average of 6.3%. The figures, released by Eurostat, indicate that 113,000 people in Lithuania were without work during this period.

Across the EU, the total number of unemployed individuals was 13.24 million, with 11.08 million residing in the Eurozone. These numbers remained stable compared to the previous month and the same period last year.

The data also highlighted youth unemployment, which stood at 15.1% in the EU and 14.7% in the Eurozone in April. Although there was a monthly decrease in youth unemployment, it saw a slight increase compared to the previous year. Specifically, the EU recorded 2.91 million unemployed young people (under 25), with 2.34 million in the Eurozone.
