Every child deserves quality breastfeeding - Mrs Soludo

Anambra State Governor's wife, Mrs. Nonye Soludo, has highlighted the critical role of quality breastfeeding in providing children with the healthiest possible start in life. Marking World Breastfeeding Week, she described the practice as a powerful tool for ensuring healthy living and nurturing a strong mother-baby bond.

As we begin this year’s World Breastfeeding Week, I celebrate every mother who continues to make sacrifices to nurture and protect her baby.

"Breastfeeding is a priceless gift that promotes healthy growth, strengthens immunity, and creates a lasting bond between mother and baby," Mrs. Soludo stated. She urged expectant and nursing mothers across Anambra State to embrace exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months, aligning with recommendations from health experts. During this period, she emphasized, no additional water, herbal mixtures, or other foods are necessary, as exclusive breastfeeding offers all the nutrients babies require and significantly reduces childhood illnesses and mortality.

Mrs. Soludo affirmed the state government's commitment to championing awareness, education, and support for mothers and families through its Healthy Living advocacy and various maternal and child health programs. "We are building an Anambra where every mother is empowered to breastfeed with confidence and every child is given the opportunity to thrive from the very beginning," she declared, underscoring a vision for a supportive environment for mothers and children.
