Ewon Benedick Remains UPKO President Uncontested

Datuk Ewon Benedick will continue to lead the United Progressive Kinabalu Organisation (UPKO) as its President for a new term. His re-election was confirmed as the position was not contested during the party's 17th Triennial Convention held in Penampang.

Similarly, Datuk Donald Peter Mojuntin retained his role as Deputy President. The five Vice President positions were also filled without competition, with Jairaiaz Joseph, Datuk Wong Thien Fook, Datuk Pangiran Lalung, Datuk Basari Sarikun, and Datuk Dr. Laurentius Nayan Ambu securing their seats.

In his closing speech, Ewon Benedick stressed that the election results should be viewed as a move to consolidate the party's strength and unity. "This election should strengthen our party, not weaken the party. All our party members are the big family of UPKO," he stated.

He also highlighted that six proposals brought forth during the convention were approved after deliberation. The new leadership is tasked with presenting the party's resolutions to the government, particularly to the Chief Minister of Sabah and Chairman of the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS), Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor. UPKO plans to continue improving its party structure and preparing for the future, focusing on its ongoing mission and service to the nation, Sabah, and its people.
