Ex-Adamawa Senator Abbo Dumps ADC for Labour Party

The Nigerian political landscape is once again abuzz with party realignments as Senator Ishaku Abbo, a prominent figure formerly representing Adamawa North, has officially switched allegiance from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to the Labour Party (LP). This move, announced via his Facebook page, signals a significant shift in the political dynamics, particularly as the nation gears up for the 2027 general elections.

Following the leadership crises that is rocking the ADC at national and state level more especially with the Federal High Court judgment that voided our state congresses and with the judgment of the Supreme Court that returned the leadership crises case back to the Federal High Court for determination, leaving all of us high on uncertainty, I, Senator Ishaku Abbo, as the leader of the SIA Movement, have joined the Labour Party alongside my supporters so we can contest elections in 2027.

Senator Abbo's decision appears to be a calculated response to the internal turmoil plaguing the ADC. He pointed to a series of leadership crises at both national and state levels, compounded by conflicting court rulings, as the primary drivers behind his departure. I ask all the people who are not happy with my movement to forgive me as I have deep respect for all my friends in ADC. I am leaving ADC not out of hate for the party but to pursue our political aspirations because I carry the dreams of many people. Yes, I am a hope of a generation.
