Ex-Lagos first lady hails Supreme Court judgment confirming Oyebanji’s election

Senator Fatimat Raji Rasaki, a former First Lady of Lagos State, has congratulated Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji on the Supreme Court's judgment that affirmed his election. Rasaki, who previously represented Ekiti Central Senatorial District, urged all stakeholders to unite for the sake of peace and development in the state.

Oyebanji's election win in June 2024 had been challenged by the African Democratic Congress candidate, Abimbola Olawumi. However, the Election Petition Tribunal dismissed the petition, a decision subsequently upheld by the Court of Appeal. The Supreme Court's unanimous judgment on Friday affirmed these earlier decisions, concluding the legal challenge.
