Ex-Marine Fernando Farías Laguna requests to testify before judge in fiscal embezzlement case

Former Marine Fernando Farías Laguna has requested to testify before a judge in an ongoing hearing that will determine if he will be formally linked to proceedings for fiscal embezzlement at maritime customs. The case involves alleged illicit activities at maritime customs.

Before entering the Federal Criminal Justice Center in Almoloya de Juárez, Farías Laguna's lawyer, Epigmenio Mendieta, stated that he would analyze the convenience of his client testifying at this procedural moment. "Today the very important decision will be made regarding whether the investigated Fernando Farías Laguna should or should not testify at this time. It is a decision I will make after speaking with him inside the courtroom," Mendieta indicated.

Sources within the judiciary revealed that Farías Laguna specifically asked control judge Alejandra Ramírez de la Vega to testify during the hearing. The proceedings are being conducted via videoconference and are closed to the media. The defense team for the former marine presented evidence that they argue demonstrates Fernando Farías Laguna's innocence regarding the accusations against him.
