Exhibition inspired by European cities opens in Crikvenica

The Crikvenica City Gallery is set to host "Hommage gradovima Europe," a new exhibition by academic artist Marina Fernežir. Opening on Thursday, the exhibition presents a series of works inspired by various European cities, delving into their rich cultural, historical, and architectural legacies.

Curator Sonja Švec Španjol highlighted Fernežir's exceptional technical skills, honed through her background in conservation and restoration. This expertise allows Fernežir the freedom to experiment and develop a unique artistic sensibility. Švec Španjol noted that Fernežir employs a wide range of artistic methods to capture the distinct essence of each city, reflecting their diverse histories, traditions, and atmospheres.

Marina Fernežir, thanks to her education in conservation and restoration, has completely mastered the technical skills of shaping classical drawing and painting forms, which has allowed her complete freedom in searching, experimenting, and developing her own artistic sensibility.

The exhibition features a variety of formats, mediums such as acrylic and oil on hardboard or canvas, and techniques including collage. Fernežir's stylistic approaches are equally varied, demonstrating her versatility in interpreting urban heritage. The exhibition will remain open to the public until August 29th.
