Explosions rock southern Iran after U.S. launches new strikes

Southern Iran experienced explosions in multiple locations as the U.S. military launched further strikes, escalating tensions in the region.

The attacks followed a warning from U.S. President Donald Trump, who vowed a forceful response to Iran's attempted missile attack on American forces in the Middle East a day prior. During an interview, Trump expressed a strong stance against Iran's actions.

U.S. Central Command confirmed intercepting all Iranian missiles fired toward U.S. forces, an action described as a departure from the usual pattern of retaliatory attacks. Separately, Saudi Arabian forces, in coordination with the U.S., conducted strikes against Iran-allied Popular Mobilization Forces in Iraq. These combined strikes reportedly resulted in at least 20 deaths, including four members of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, according to a provincial Iranian official.

Amidst these heightened tensions and threats to regional trade, vessel traffic through critical shipping chokepoints like the Strait of Hormuz remains significantly depressed.
