Families and hospital staff celebrate the birth of two National Day babies

Malaysia’s National Day celebration took on a personal meaning at a Johor Bahru hospital, where two baby boys arrived on the holiday and were welcomed by relatives and medical staff.

Aimi Shahirah Mazli, 32, said she and her husband, Irshad Harris Haris Fadzilah, were grateful that their third child was born healthy after a smooth delivery. Aimi, who is also a doctor, said National Day had always held a special place in her family, but they had not expected their son to be born on the historic date.

Hospital chief executive Nor Arfah Arshad described the births as a special moment for the families and hospital workers. “Every birth is a responsibility and the beginning of a new life. When it happens during National Day, the moment becomes even more meaningful,” she said. The hospital said it remains focused on safety, comfort and health monitoring for mothers and babies. It has recorded 2,771 births since opening in 2019.
