Family Conflict Ends in Tragedy: Son Sentenced for Murdering Father, Injuring Mother

Kaunas, Lithuania – A family dispute tragically culminated in violence, resulting in the death of a father and serious injury to his mother. The Kaunas Regional Court has handed down a significant prison sentence to the perpetrator, D.Č., for the brutal acts committed on March 2 of last year.

The accused D.Č., while intoxicated by alcohol, during a personal conflict, assaulted his father and mother.

The court found D.Č. guilty of murdering his father and inflicting slight bodily harm on his mother. Evidence presented during the trial indicated that the defendant, under the influence of alcohol, physically assaulted both parents. The violence escalated when D.Č. pursued his father outside and fatally stabbed him. His mother sustained injuries while attempting to intervene and protect her husband.

This case highlights the devastating consequences of domestic violence, particularly when exacerbated by substance abuse. The prosecution emphasized the severity of the crimes, leading to the combined sentence of 12 years and 6 months imprisonment. The Kaunas Regional Prosecutor's Office led the investigation and prosecution, with the Kaunas County Chief Police Commissariat's Criminal Police Department conducting the initial inquiry.
