Farmer Arrested for Plowing New Asphalt with Tractor in Poland

Police in Gliwice, Poland, have arrested a farmer who used a tractor to plow through approximately 200 meters of freshly laid asphalt on Rybacka Street. The incident occurred Friday afternoon.

The road in its entirety is the property of the City of Gliwice. It is not a private road, nor is any part of it owned by a private individual.

Construction workers on site intervened to prevent further damage to the road by blocking the farmer's path with their machinery. Police arrived and apprehended the man while he was still at the scene.

The farmer is scheduled for interrogation by the District Prosecutor's Office in Gliwice-Zachód on Saturday. The Municipal Roads Authority in Gliwice issued a statement to clarify that Rybacka Street is fully owned by the city and not a private road, countering any suggestions that private ownership disputes affected the repair work.

Before further damage to the road could occur, construction workers stopped him by positioning construction machinery in a way that prevented him from continuing.

Ostropa, a district of Gliwice since 1975, retains some of its rural character, which may contribute to the ongoing connection between residents and agricultural practices.
